Is my phone eSIM compatible?

Type your phone model to check. Most iPhones from the XR/XS onward and many recent Android phones support eSIM. Your phone also needs to be carrier-unlocked.

Two things to know first

Your phone must be carrier-unlocked

If your phone was bought on a contract or from a carrier, it may be locked to that network and won't accept another provider's eSIM. Ask your carrier to unlock it before you travel.

Region matters

Phones sold in mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau often have no eSIM (many use dual physical SIMs instead). Some Android models also differ by country or carrier version.

How to check

Check on your phone in 30 seconds

These checks work even if your model isn't on our list.

01

Any phone: dial *#06#

Open the phone app and dial *#06#. If an EID (a long 32-digit number) appears alongside your IMEI, your phone supports eSIM.

*#06#

02

iPhone

Go to Settings → General → About and scroll down. If you see "Digital SIM" or "Available SIM" with an EID, your iPhone supports eSIM. You can also check for Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM.

Settings → General → About

03

Android

Look for an "Add eSIM" option. On Samsung: Settings → Connections → SIM manager. On Google Pixel: Settings → Network & internet → SIMs. Other brands put it under Settings → Mobile network or SIM cards.

Settings → Connections → SIM manager

How do I know if my phone is unlocked?

If you bought your phone outright from the manufacturer or a retailer, it's usually unlocked. If you bought it through a carrier plan, it may be locked. On iPhone, go to Settings → General → About and look for "Carrier Lock: No SIM restrictions". Otherwise, ask your carrier.

Can I use an eSIM and my physical SIM at the same time?

Yes, on dual-SIM phones. Keep your regular SIM for calls and texts, and use our eSIM for mobile data while you travel.

My phone has no SIM tray. Will it work?

Yes. Phones without a SIM tray, such as iPhone 14 and newer sold in the US, are eSIM-only and work with our plans.

How many eSIMs can my phone hold?

Most phones can store several eSIMs (often five or more), but usually only one or two can be active at the same time. You can leave the travel eSIM installed after your trip and switch it off.

What if my phone doesn't support eSIM?

Then our plans won't work on it, because we only sell eSIMs. If you have another compatible phone, you can use that one while travelling.

Your phone is ready? Your eSIM is too.
