Install your eSIM before you travel, while you’re on Wi-Fi. Installing doesn’t start your plan. Your QR code and install details are on your order page and in your confirmation email. Menu names differ a little between brands and Android versions; the steps below cover the most common ones.
One-tap install (Android 10 and later)
- Open your order page (the link is in your confirmation email) on the phone you want to install on.
- Tap Install on this phone.
- Confirm the download when your phone asks, and follow the prompts.
If the link doesn’t open the eSIM setup on your phone, use the QR code or manual steps below.
Samsung Galaxy
- Go to SettingsConnectionsSIM manager.
- Tap Add eSIM.
- Tap Scan QR code from service provider and scan the code shown on another screen. To type it in instead, choose Enter activation code and paste the full activation code from your order page.
- Tap Add or Confirm, then give the eSIM a name like Travel.
Google Pixel
- Go to SettingsNetwork & internetSIMs.
- Tap Add SIM (or +), then Download a SIM instead? and Next.
- Scan the QR code. To type the details instead, tap Need help? then Enter it manually and paste the activation code.
- Tap Activate, and when asked, choose to use the travel eSIM for mobile data.
Other Android phones
Look under SettingsMobile network or SettingsSIM cards (sometimes SIM card & mobile data) for Add eSIM, Download eSIM or +, then scan the QR code or enter the activation code.
When you land
Set the travel eSIM as your data line and turn on roaming for it:
- Samsung: in SettingsConnectionsSIM manager, set Mobile data to the travel eSIM. Then go to SettingsConnectionsMobile networks and switch on Data roaming.
- Pixel: in SettingsNetwork & internetSIMs, tap the travel eSIM, switch on Use SIM, Mobile data and Roaming. Turn off Mobile data on your home SIM.
Don’t delete the eSIM
Most eSIMs can only be installed once. If you remove it, it usually can’t be reinstalled. To stop using it, just switch it off.
