Most connection problems come down to a setting. Work through these steps in order, and check whether you’re online after each one.

1. Check data roaming is on for the eSIM

This is the most common cause. Our eSIMs need data roaming switched on for the travel line. On iPhone: SettingsCellularyour travel eSIMData Roaming. On Samsung: SettingsConnectionsMobile networksData roaming. On Pixel: SettingsNetwork & internetSIMsyour travel eSIMRoaming.

2. Make sure the eSIM is the line used for data

Your phone may still be trying to use your home SIM for data. On iPhone, set SettingsCellularCellular Data to the travel eSIM. On Samsung, set SettingsConnectionsSIM managerMobile data to the travel eSIM. On Pixel, turn on Mobile data for the travel eSIM and off for your home SIM. Also check the travel line itself is switched on.

3. Toggle airplane mode

Turn airplane mode on, wait 10–15 seconds, then turn it off. This makes your phone search for networks again, which often fixes things straight after landing.

4. Restart your phone

A full restart clears many temporary network glitches.

5. Select a network manually

If your phone shows no signal or keeps searching, pick a network yourself:

  • iPhone: SettingsCellularyour travel eSIMNetwork Selection, switch off Automatic, wait for the list to load and choose another network. If one doesn’t work, try the next.
  • Samsung: SettingsConnectionsMobile networksNetwork operators, then Search now and pick a network.
  • Pixel: SettingsNetwork & internetSIMsyour travel eSIM, switch off Automatically select network and choose one.

6. Check the APN (rarely needed)

The APN (the eSIM’s data settings) is usually set automatically. If our support team gives you an APN for your plan, enter it on iPhone under SettingsCellularyour travel eSIMCellular Data Network, or on Android under SettingsConnectionsMobile networksAccess Point Names. Don’t change it otherwise.

Other things to check

  • Are you at your destination? A local plan only connects in its country.
  • Is your data used up or expired? Check your order page. If so, top up.
  • VPN or Low Data Mode: turn off any VPN, and on iPhone check Low Data Mode, to rule them out.
  • Slow speeds: speed depends on local coverage. Moving outdoors or near a window, or choosing another network manually, can help.

Don’t delete and reinstall the eSIM

Removing the eSIM usually means it can’t be installed again. Contact us first.
