Your pre-departure checklist
Five minutes at home saves you an hour of hunting for Wi-Fi at the airport.
01
Check that your phone supports eSIM
Most iPhones from the XR/XS onward and many recent Android phones do. Use our device checker to be sure.
02
Make sure your phone is unlocked
A phone locked to one carrier can't use another carrier's eSIM. If you bought it on a plan, ask your carrier.
03
Install the eSIM on Wi-Fi
Installing needs an internet connection. Do it at home or at the hotel the night before, not at passport control.
04
Label the new line
Name it something like "Travel" so you can easily tell it apart from your main SIM in Settings.
05
Keep the QR code handy
It stays on your order page and in your email, but many eSIMs can only be installed once. Don't delete the eSIM from your phone.
When you land
Three switches, then you're online
01
Turn on the travel eSIM line
Make sure the travel line is switched on in your SIM or Cellular settings.
02
Choose it for mobile data
Set the travel eSIM as the line used for mobile data, so your home SIM doesn't use data abroad.
03
Enable data roaming on it
Our eSIMs connect to partner networks abroad, so roaming must be on for the travel line. It doesn't cost you extra: you've already paid for your data.
Not connecting after a minute? Toggle airplane mode on and off, or restart your phone. Our troubleshooting guide covers the rest. Troubleshooting guide
Topping up
Running low? Add data to the same eSIM.
Top up from your order page in a few taps. The extra data lands on the eSIM you already have, so there's nothing to reinstall and no new QR code to scan.
Your main number stays on. Your data comes from us.
Our eSIMs are data-only. Your regular SIM stays in your phone, so you can still receive calls and texts on your number (your carrier's roaming rates apply to those). Meanwhile WhatsApp, iMessage and FaceTime keep working on your usual number over our data.
Keep your home SIM on for calls and SMS, if you want

Messaging apps keep your existing number

Questions travellers ask
Everything about buying, installing and using your travel eSIM. Can't find your answer? Our help centre has step-by-step guides.
Your plan starts the first time the eSIM connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy or install it. So you can buy and install it days or weeks before your trip.
Do I get a phone number?
No. Our eSIMs are data-only: no phone number, calls or SMS. You can still make calls over apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime, and keep your regular SIM active for your own number.
How quickly do I receive my eSIM?
Instantly. As soon as your payment goes through, the QR code and install details appear on your order page and are sent to your email.
Can I install the eSIM before I travel?
Yes, and we recommend it. Installing at home on Wi-Fi doesn't start your plan. The clock only starts when the eSIM first connects at your destination.
What if I run out of data?
Top up from your order page. The extra data is added to the same eSIM, with no reinstall needed.
Will my phone work with an eSIM?
You need an eSIM-compatible phone that is carrier-unlocked. Most iPhones from the XR/XS onward and many recent Samsung, Google Pixel and other Android phones support eSIM. Check our compatible devices page.
Where are you headed?
Find your destination, pick a data size, and you'll have your eSIM in minutes.
